Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Idle Development ("we", "us") is a legacy project and no longer an active service provider. This website, idledev.org, is a static information site. The data controller for the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 is Idle Development. Contact: [email protected].
2. What data we collect
- Directly from you: if you email us, we receive your email address, name (if given) and the content of your message.
- Automatically: this site has no forms, accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. Our web server or hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and request time) for security and fault-finding.
3. Why we use it and our lawful basis
- Responding to your enquiries – legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
- Securing and operating the website through server logs – legitimate interests.
- Complying with legal obligations – Article 6(1)(c).
4. Information about people named on this site
This site names former team members and developers, mostly by their online handles (with a first name for some), as a historical record. We rely on legitimate interests and, where applicable, the individual's agreement. Anyone named may ask us at any time to correct or remove their information (see section 8).
Sources of information
Information about people and organisations named on this site comes from the team's own knowledge and records, and from publicly available online sources. These include public GitHub profiles (usernames, display names, profile pictures and linked websites), public Discord profiles and avatars, the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine copy of our 2021 website, search engines such as Google, and the public websites and social profiles of the organisations and people concerned. We only use information that the individual or organisation has made public, and we use it solely to record the history of Idle Development. We do not obtain data from private messages, private servers or non-public accounts. Where information comes from a third-party platform, that platform is an independent controller of its own data and its own privacy policy applies. Profile pictures and logos are reproduced from those public sources for identification and historical reference only.
Under Article 14 of the UK GDPR, where we have not collected information directly from the person concerned, the source is as described above. Anyone named may object, or ask for a correction or removal, by emailing [email protected]. We will act on such requests promptly.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. Data may be processed by our web hosting and email providers acting on our instructions, and disclosed where required by law or to protect legal rights.
6. International transfers
If data is processed outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
7. Retention
Emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry, normally no more than 12 months. Server logs are kept for a short period, normally no more than 30 days.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability where applicable. To exercise these rights email [email protected]. We will respond within one month.
9. Complaints
You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
10. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
11. Changes
We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
